New Addition to Versatile Sport Boats Line Pairs More Space and Enhanced Comfort with Even Bigger Performance (MAY 2012)

San Francisco, Calif. – PROTECTOR USA announced today the release of its new high-performance adventure boat, the Targa 30. Engineered for speed, handling and seaworthiness in all sea and weather conditions, the new boat builds on the success of the popular Targa 28 — offering boaters more room, enhanced comfort and bigger power for higher speed. Custom built with Protector’s signature high quality precision craftsmanship for the most discerning yachtsmen, the new 30 provides safe performance handling for fast, ultra-comfortable travel and versatile on-the-water cruising adventures.

Designed for resilient comfort in any sea state, the Targa 30 offers increased rough water performance and more offshore capability for added flexibility. The new Protector boat can be customized to suit owners’ year-round boating needs. Its sophisticated styling, speed and handling allow it to serve as a recreational sport cruiser and yacht tender, as well as a sailing coach and support boat, and multifunctional commercial patrol or safety vessel. With a 35-MPH cruising speed, 63-MPH top speed, and 265-mile range, the Protector Targa 30 allows boaters to explore more destinations and go where other vessels cannot.

The Targa 30 has a maximum capacity for twelve passengers and features a more spacious, fully enclosed cabin design with expanded deck space and an extended interior cabin with wider bunks for added comfort. With an increased slope dash, the boat provides more helm space for better ergonomics of switches and larger navigation displays, higher steering wheel placement for enhanced ease of operation and added space for larger helm seats. The new Targa also features an extended pilothouse, larger anchor locker to accommodate an underbow auto anchoring system, larger transom engine wells and longer hull length that allows for a 180-pound increase in buoyancy for enhanced performance of heavier outboards. Offering a wide-range of optional equipment for added style and performance, custom accessories include a Side-Power electric bow thruster, shock mitigating helm seating, teak flooring, radar arch to accommodate searchlights, thermal cameras and a larger capacity fuel tank, to name a few.

“The Protector Targa 30 builds on the success of our popular Targa 28,” said Tiffany Shiebler, marketing director, PROTECTOR USA. “Owners will enjoy a more spacious design, enhanced features for passenger comfort and even bigger performance with higher speed. The Targa 30 is easy to drive and handles rough water effortlessly. We are confident the new vessel will exceed expectations by allowing boaters to go more places faster with added luxury—whether it be for daily travel or fun, adventurous excursions.”

The Protector Targa 30 can be outfitted with twin outboard engines, or a single inboard gas or diesel option. The vessel weighs approximately 7,200-pounds, has a 9-foot 6-inch beam when inflated (8-foot 3-inch beam when deflated) and an overall length of 30-feet 6-inches. Providing both comfortable and exciting handling, the boat has a deadrise of 60-degrees in the bow and 23-degrees in the aft, and draws 2-feet of water. All PROTECTOR vessels feature a solid hand-laid fiberglass hull, shock-mitigating seven chambered hypalon tubes, and are protector by a 5-year structural hull warranty.
